The Methodist Healthcare Foundation recently welcomed two new board members – Dr. Schorr Behnke and Jane George.

Dr. Behnke is a radiologist with Memphis Radiological P.C., where he has practiced since 2014.

“I look forward to providing a physician perspective in the implementation of the mission and outreach of the Foundation,” said Behnke. “The Foundation plays a vital role in the health and well-being of our community as a whole, and I am excited to play a part in that."

After receiving his undergraduate degree from Colgate University, Dr. Behnke attended the University of Tennessee Health Science Center for Medical School and then completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at University of Tennessee. He then completed his fellowship in Pediatric Radiology at Duke University Medical Center.

While Dr. Behnke is originally from St. Louis, he has claimed Memphis as home since 2003. His wife, Kathleen, also works in the medical field as a Nurse Practitioner. Together, they have three daughters who all attend Grace-Saint Luke’s Episcopal School.

In addition to his service on Methodist Healthcare Foundation’s Board of Directors, Dr. Behnke serves on the Board of MetroCare Physicians and is currently serving as a Co-Chair of Grace-Saint Luke’s Annual Fund Campaign.

For over 13 years, Jane was an Associate of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. Jane retired in 2019 from Methodist after serving as the chief financial officer for Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital. She began her career with Price Waterhouse in Birmingham, followed by 37 years in healthcare finance.

“Having worked alongside some of the most caring and dedicated leaders I’ve known, I’m grateful to be asked to join the Methodist Healthcare Foundation’s Board,” Jane said. “Retirement has given me the time to do this as well as continue with other charitable interests, and I look forward to serving.”

Jane received her bachelor of Professional Accountancy from Mississippi State University and is a certified public accountant. She has served as the president for the Mississippi Chapter of Healthcare Financial Management Association and has been on the Advisory Board of the Tupelo Salvation Army.

Beyond her professional successes, Jane is also a generous and thoughtful donor. At her retirement she established the William A. Kenley Scholarship Fund with the Methodist Healthcare Foundation that offers scholarships to Associates seeking additional training or education in healthcare specific roles as a means to lift up the Associates and also strengthen the system’s mission-driven service in the years ahead.

The new members were approved during the June 2021 board meeting. Other board members include: Nick Bragorgos (outgoing board chair); Wilson Moore, board chair; Michael Drake, vice chair; Roshun Austin, assistant secretary; Sally Aldrich, Dana Armstrong, Wes Barnett, Karen Garner, David Hankins, Yvonne Madlock, and Rev. Dr. Shane Stanford.
