CBU Student Health & Counseling Services Clinics


The Christian Brothers University Health Services Clinic and the Counseling Services Clinic offer free and convenient minor medical care and behavioral health care for students. All student services are provided by trusted Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare professionals. A student ID is required for clinic access.

Health Services Clinic

Most non-urgent, minor medical conditions can be treated at the CBU Health and Wellness Center including:

  • Colds, flu and sore throat
  • Bronchitis, pneumonia and asthma attacks
  • Ear, throat and sinus infections
  • Rashes, bug bites and allergic reactions
  • Minor headaches, eye pain or irritation
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and other stomach viruses

Minor injuries treated such as:

  • Sprains, strains, minor fractures and dislocations
  • Cuts, scrapes and splinters
Additional services:
  • Sports Physicals
  • Screenings: influenza, strep, urinalysis, urine pregnancy, mono, COVID-19
  • On campus injuries may be seen at the clinic, however, if there is a need for a referral, the patient will be responsible for payment (insurance or fee for service). The patient may follow up with PCP if necessary.

Counseling Services Clinic

Examples of services your behavioral health consultant is able to provide include:

  • Stress reduction and relaxation techniques
  • Relieving symptoms of depression
  • Help overcoming habits such as using tobacco, alcohol misuse or drug use
  • Assistance in developing a healthy lifestyle
  • Promoting behavior changes to help manage chronic problems such as obesity and ADHD
  • Techniques for improving sleep
  • Strategies for coping with grief and/or loss

What to Expect

  • Services are free for current CBU students with an active student ID
  • Appointments are often available on the same day or within the week
  • Individual counseling sessions typically last 50 minutes and each student is eligible for a limited number of sessions per semester
  • The staff at the Counseling Services Center utilize a solution-focused brief therapy model designed to help students experiencing mild to moderate symptoms and issues with coping arising from stress and life transitions. If students need support beyond the scope of the Counseling Services Center, we will collaborate with the Living Well Network within Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare to find alternative care for those with more severe, or long-term needs.
