2016-17 US News & World Report For the sixth year in a row, Methodist Hospitals of Memphis has been recognized as the best regional hospital in the Memphis metro area by U.S. News & World Report. Methodist Hospitals of Memphis, comprised of Methodist University Hospital, Methodist North Hospital, Methodist South Hospital and Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital, ranked third in Tennessee. The annual U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 27th year, recognize hospitals that excel in treating the most challenging patients.

“The U.S. News designation validates the dedication and expertise of our physicians  and associates as they work every day to provide our patients and their families high quality health care,” said Michael Ugwueke, president and chief operating officer for Methodist Healthcare. “Being ranked as the best regional hospital in the Memphis metro area by U.S. News and World Report lets families know that they can count on our team of experts to help get them back on their feet and back to living their lives.”

Methodist was also recognized as high performing in neurology/neurosurgery and nephrology.

U.S. News publishes Best Hospitals to help guide patients who need a high level of care because they face a particularly difficult surgery, a challenging condition, or added risk because of other health problems or advanced age. Objective measures such as patient survival and safety data, nurse staffing levels and other data largely determined the rankings in most specialties.

The specialty rankings and data were produced for U.S. News by RTI International, a leading research organization based in Research Triangle Park, N.C. Using the same data, U.S. News produced the state and metro rankings.

Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, a part of the Methodist family, was also recently honored by U.S. News & World Report as one of its 2016-2017 Best Children’s Hospitals in the nation. The hospital made the list for the sixth consecutive year.
