Saturday, Oct. 16, marks the 6th Annual Awards of the Tennessee Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (TNAAP). The event, sponsored by the Cumberland Pediatric Foundation, will be held at the W.O. Smith School of Music and will honor member pediatricians and individuals who are committed to the advocacy of children across Tennessee.

Dr. B. Keith English and Dr. Jack Segal, both pediatric specialists based in Memphis, will be accepting awards from TNAAP for excellence in child health advocacy. Dr. English, honored as the Pediatrician of the Year, is the medical director of Infectious Diseases at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and The University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Dr. Segal, honored as Senior Pediatrician of the Year, is currently retired after serving in the United States Army as a physician in Europe during World War II and practicing with the group Segal, Kronenberg, Tsiu, and Eiseman Pediatric Care in Memphis.

TNAAP is committed to being a leading voice, advocate and authority for the physical, mental and social welfare of infants, children and adolescents, as well as for the pediatricians who care for them. “As our state faces the challenge of combating rising childhood obesity rates and other vital health issues, we believe recognizing those working toward a healthier and stronger population of Tennessee children will inspire others to take action,” remarks TNAAP President, Dr. Eddie Hamilton.

The TNAAP Annual Awards are made possible thanks to the following sponsors: The Cumberland Pediatric Foundation, Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital, Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, US ARMY Healthcare team, The Rural Partnership, and Jerry’s Artarama.
