New Chief Medical Officer Joins Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital
George G. Mayzell, M.D., MBA, FACP has joined Methodist
Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital as chief medical officer. Dr. Mayzell recently moved to Memphis from Jacksonville, Fla., where he served as senior medical director of patient management effectiveness for Shands HealthCare, a 9-hospital system integrated with the University of Florida College of Medicine. In addition to his position with Shands, Dr. Mayzell served as a consultant for Rx Health Partners. Prior to that, he worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida as the corporate managing medical director of pharmacy and care.
“Everyone at Gemantown is very excited to have Dr. Mayzell join our healthcare team as chief medical officer,” said David Baytos, CEO/administrator for Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital. “George has over 20 years of experience and proven leadership in the healthcare field, and the skills he brings to Methodist will be of great assistance in our continuing efforts to improve the quality of services provided to our patients.”
Dr. Mayzell received a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. He earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey and completed his residency at the University of South Florida in the field of internal medicine. In addition, Mayzell earned a MBA from Jacksonville University.
His professional affiliations include the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American College of Physicians.
