Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital received a Silver Anvil Award of Excellence from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). The Award of Excellence, a national award recognizing outstanding strategic public relations planning and implementation, was presented to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and partners Destination King and Mangan Holcomb Partners during the Silver Anvil Awards Ceremony held June 9 in New York City.

Le Bonheur received the 2011 Silver Anvil Award of Excellence for its Grand Opening Celebration campaign in the Events and Observances (Seven or fewer days), Associations/Nonprofit Organizations category. Le Bonheur planned a series of events to mark the grand opening of a new $340 million, 610,000 square foot hospital. The events resulted in more than 4,000 attendees, 50 print stories, 4 hours of television coverage and a 28 percent increase in Facebook fans.

“The Award of Excellence recognizes top public relations programs in our industry,” said James J. Roop, APR, Fellow PRSA, 2011 Awards and Honors Committee chair and president of Roop & Co., Cleveland, Ohio. “To receive an Award of Excellence, programs must be of Silver Anvil caliber and represent some of the finest strategic and creative thinking in our profession.”
The Silver Anvil Awards program has grown in scope and stature since its inception in 1946, and awards are now given in 59 categories and subcategories. In the 60-plus-year history of the Silver Anvils, many organizations have been recognized, including solo practitioners, agencies of all sizes, large and small businesses, top corporations, nonprofits, associations and government agencies.
