Chief Nurse Executive
Nikki S. Polis, PhD, RN, joined Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in January 2012 as Chief Nurse Executive. Polis comes to Methodist from Main Line Health System in Bryn Mawr, Penn., where she was system director for clinical education, research and grants management.
As Chief Nurse Executive, Polis is responsible for creating and communicating the vision and direction for nursing within Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. In addition, she provides strategic leadership and supports a progressive professional practice environment that promotes excellence in patient care and nursing practice with an emphasis on accelerating the organization's commitment to patient- and family-centered care.
During her tenure at Main Line Health System, Polis provided leadership for developing and embedding a culture of safety and accountability, facilitated the process for increasing the number of certified direct care nurses to over 30 percent, and worked on the successful Magnet re-designation application. Prior to joining Main Line, Polis worked at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, where she served in a variety of positions, most recently as administrative director for MacDonald Women’s Hospital and Women’s Services.
Polis has built a well-deserved reputation as an innovative, patient-focused, health care leader. With her extensive experience and strong leadership skills, she is well prepared to support achievement of Methodist goals in the areas of a superior patient experience, quality outcomes, increased nurse retention and engagement, and Magnet recognition.
