Chaplaincy
Chaplains are part of the interdisciplinary team to bring holistic care to the patient and their families. Here, we treat the whole person emotionally, physically and spiritually. Chaplains are well grounded in their faith and provide a calm and healing presence during times of crisis and anxiety. Chaplains practice active listening to hear people’s stories that need to be heard and better understood. This type of compassionate listening, along with offering prayers and reading sacred text, helps to ground the patient back to their faith, which helps sustain them and give them the inner strength they need during vulnerable times.
All Faiths Welcome
Our chaplains are religious and spiritual leaders with specialized training in the healthcare system. They have relationships with faith groups throughout the region. If a patient wants a spiritual caregiver from their particular faith tradition, the chaplain will help facilitate that contact and connection.
All day. Every day. For everyone.
Our 24/7 Spiritual Care Helpline provides an easy pathway for individuals and groups to connect directly with the chaplains, especially when patients have limited contact with their family, friends and their house of worship. For adult spiritual care, please call (901) 516-7877. For pediatric spiritual care, please call (901) 297-2388. Chaplains are available all day, every day, for everyone.
