Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare provides evidence-based services for children and families and working with community partners to improve health and best practices.
My Sister’s Keeper
As a comprehensive health initiative specifically focused on health disparities of Black women within Shelby County, My Sister’s Keeper is committed to elevating the health and well-being of Black women through health education, empowerment and advocacy.
Community Collective for Reading & Literacy
Methodist partnered with BookNook Learning and the Urban Child Institute in 2019 to address critical issues in literacy among students in Shelby County as a key social determinant of health. The program emphasizes third-grade readiness for kindergarten through fifth-grade students. Initially a dozen after-school sites, including mostly churches, implemented the program; currently it is widely available through Shelby County Schools, area charter schools, and community after-school programs.
