Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare’s University Hospital Earns Repeat Honor for Exemplary Care of Chest Pain Patients
Memphis, Tenn. – For the third year in a row, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare’s Methodist University Hospital receives the highest possible honor from the American College of Cardiology for its treatment of patients with chest pain. The hospital was awarded the National Cardiovascular Data Registry Chest Pain – MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2023.
“At Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, we are on a journey of continuous improvement,” said Tim Slocum, president of Methodist University Hospital. “We’re honored that our dedication to providing the highest quality of care for our neighbors is reflected in this award. Associates at our downtown hospital are devoted to meeting our patients’ needs in their time of emergency.”
This aggressive goal of administering a higher standard of care for heart attack patients led to more lives saved and an overall optimal standard of care for the patients we are most privileged to serve.
“This prestigious award affirms Methodist University Hospital as a leader in the medical community, upholding the highest standards of excellence in the diagnosis and treatment of acute chest pain. We remain steadfast in our mission to provide high quality, cost-effective care to all those who entrust us with their lives,” said Oluwaseun A. Akinseye, M.D., director of cardiovascular services at Methodist University Hospital.
Our 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment identified heart disease as the number one killer in Shelby County, Tenn. and DeSoto County, Miss. Recently, Methodist University Hospital was named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s Great Hospitals in America for 2023. In addition to featuring an outstanding cardiac program, the health system’s flagship hospital features a large transplant institute and comprehensive neurosciences program.
