Memphis, Tenn. -- Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare’s Tennessee-based adult hospitals received designations from U.S. News & World Report today, recognizing those hospitals for both care and access.

The four Memphis adult hospitals are recognized as a second place Best Regional Hospitals honoree in the state of Tennessee, behind Vanderbilt, and a first place Best Regional Hospitals honoree in the Memphis Metro area. Both designations represent tied scores.

Every year, U.S. News evaluates more than 4,400 hospitals across 15 adult specialties and 22 procedures and conditions. This year, only 13% of evaluated hospitals earned a Best Hospitals designation.

The healthcare system also received high-performing ratings in Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Neurology & Neurosurgery and in Urology.

“This recognition is a testament to our commitment to care for our community, and our mission to provide high-quality, compassionate, and innovative care to the Mid-South,” said Methodist president and CEO Dr. Michael Ugwueke. “We strive each day to improve every life we touch, and it is gratifying to see our work recognized for our adult hospitals along with the national ranking Le Bonheur earns in the U.S. News & World Report children’s hospital rankings.”

In addition, Methodist received high-performing ratings in 16 categories of common care procedures and received designation as a Best Regional Hospital for Community Access.

“We could not achieve this level of excellence without the expertise and tireless dedication of our employees, our physicians, and our community,” said Dr. Ugwueke. “This honor is an achievement, not just for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, but for the entire Memphis community.”
