Living Organ Transplantation

At The Methodist Transplant Institute, we are proud to offer living donor transplantation as a treatment option for both liver and kidney disease. Due to a change in our medical staff effective August 2, 2022, we are temporarily suspending the Live Donor Liver Transplantation component of our program. This page will be updated when the program is reopened.

Our dedicated living donor transplant team has performed more than 750 such transplantations. More than 113,000 people are currently waiting for an organ. Many of these wait for an average of three to seven years for an available organ. If you have a friend, a relative or an acquaintance that is interested in donating, we will guide you through the process and conduct a thorough evaluation to ensure the safety of both the donor and the recipient.
