My Sister's Keeper Summit Explores Women's Experiences on the Frontlines

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare hosted the 5th annual My Sister’s Keeper Summit on Saturday, February 25, 2023 as a free event, open to community. The Summit was a resounding success with over 200 virtual attendees.

With the theme “Living on the Frontlines: Stories of Trials and Triumphs from the Black Women’s Perspective,” the event highlighted local inspirational black women who have been impacted by COVID-19 and provided tangible resources to support our physical, financial and emotional health.

The event program also featured thought leaders from Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare (MLH) and a special tribute to the Rev. Dr. Autura Eason-Williams, a beloved friend and colleague who served on the inaugural committee for My Sister’s Keeper in 2018  and was tragically killed in 2022.

Dr. Sandra Madubuonwu, senior director of social determinants of health and wellness at MLH, said at the event, “Living on the frontline means that black women continue to shoulder the difficulties of family leadership, childcare, healthcare and social progress. Our commitment [at My Sister’s Keeper] is to give you space and time to commit to a movement that includes not only care for others but care for you and all that you are.”

The event was sponsored by MLH, a grant through the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Community Trust.

The event planning and program were coordinated by MLH's Mission Integration Division with the support of Events by Day, the BXM Agency, and Scott Fowler Productions.
