Help Kick Cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare is going pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
Memphis, TN maintains one of the highest disparities in breast cancer mortalities between Black women and White women. To combat this terrible health disparity, Methodist is working to promote awareness and increase access to preventive breast health screenings for all women in our community. Earlier detection and treatment are the key to ending breast cancer mortality.
There are several ways that community members can take part in Breast Cancer Awareness Month:
-
Schedule Your Mammogram
Schedule a mammogram by calling Methodist at 901.516.9000 for an appointment at the Comprehensive Breast Center in Midtown or in Germantown, Methodist South Hospital, or Methodist North Hospital. Call 662.932.9153 to schedule an appointment at the Southhaven Diagnostic Center.
If you have already received a mammogram, you can still help by encouraging a friend, loved one, or coworker to schedule their screening.
-
Purchase Socks, Help Kick Cancer
Help Kick Cancer by purchasing Methodist breast cancer awareness socks for $10 per pair. To purchase socks, you can text MLHKickCancer to 41444 or go online.
100% of proceeds from sock sales will benefit the Methodist Healthcare Foundation's Breast Cancer Care Fund that will help cover the cost of screenings and care for uninsured and under-insured women.
-
Spread Awareness on Social Media
Help promote awareness about preventive health screenings during Breast Cancer Awareness month by posting and sharing on Social Media. Tag Methodist when you post and share your story, why you get your screening, information about breast cancer prevention, and more.
Stop by a Methodist Breast Center in October to take a picture with our pink ribbon balloon displays and post your picture with #MLHFam.
