Glen W. Newhart
Senior Vice President & Chief Philanthropy Officer
Glen W. Newhart serves as Senior Vice President and the inaugural Chief Philanthropy Officer at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare (MLH), where he directs the organization’s philanthropic strategy and operations for both the Methodist Healthcare Foundation and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital Foundation. In this newly created role, he partners with donors, community leaders, and internal teams to advance MLH’s mission, expand its reach across the Mid-South, and drive community-focused initiatives.
Glen brings more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and healthcare philanthropy. Prior to joining MLH, he served with Adventist Health as President and CEO of the St. Helena Hospital Foundation—the largest foundation in the system—where he led a period of transformational growth. Under his leadership, the foundation was also recognized with multiple Nonprofit of the Year awards. Over the course of his career, he has held executive leadership roles with health systems, educational institutions, and community-based foundations, building a reputation for revitalizing foundations and delivering results.
He holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Management and has maintained his status as a Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) for nearly 20 years. A former recipient of the AFP Outstanding Fundraising Professional award, Glen is an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and the Tennessee Nonprofit Network, reflecting a career-long commitment to learning and the highest ethical and professional standards.
Throughout his career, Glen has been driven by a passion for using philanthropy to improve access to care and the health of communities. He brings both a strategic vision and a people-first approach to his work at MLH, ensuring that the community remains at the heart of every mission-driven project.
