Glen W. Newhart
Senior Vice President & Chief Philanthropy Officer
Glen W. Newhart serves as Senior Vice President & Chief Philanthropy and Mission Officer at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. In this role, he leads the organization’s philanthropic strategy while guiding several of its most important community and mission-focused programs, including Methodist Le Bonheur Community Outreach, the Congregational Health Network, the Center of Excellence in Faith & Health, Employee Assistance Program, Adult Volunteer Services, and Corporate Sponsorships. He also serves on the MLCO Board of Directors.
Glen has spent more than 30 years in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and healthcare philanthropy. Before joining Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, he served as President and CEO of the largest foundation in the Adventist Health system. Under his leadership, the foundation experienced significant growth and earned multiple Nonprofit of the Year awards. Throughout his career he has held senior roles with health systems, educational institutions, and community foundations, building a strong track record of uniting philanthropy and mission.
He holds an MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Management and has maintained his Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential for nearly two decades. Glen is a past recipient of the AFP Outstanding Fundraising Professional award and is an active member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, American College of Healthcare Executives, and the Tennessee Nonprofit Network.
What drives Glen is a clear belief that philanthropy and mission can expand access to care and improve the health of communities. He brings both strategic focus and a genuine people-first approach to the work, keeping the community at the center of every effort.
