MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Methodist Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce Laila Ali as the speaker for this year’s Methodist Healthcare Foundation Annual Luncheon, set for Nov. 20 at The Peabody Memphis.

As the youngest daughter of legendary boxer and humanitarian Muhammad Ali, Laila grew up with an extraordinary example of what it means to make an impact in and outside the ring. A member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame, she retired with a perfect 24-0 record, including 21 knockouts and five world championship titles.

Additionally, as a two-time winner of Food Network’s Chopped celebrity competition and author of a best-selling cookbook, Ali has developed a passion for being a heart health advocate.

Now in its 24th year, the Methodist Healthcare Luncheon is one of the Methodist Healthcare Foundation’s signature annual fundraising events. The Luncheon brings together community leaders, donors, patients and supporters to benefit Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare and its mission to enhance health and well-being through high-quality, innovative and compassionate care.

Leanne McQuown, President of the Methodist Healthcare Foundation, said this year’s event offers an exciting opportunity for everyone in the Mid-South to hear about the great work being done at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare and hear inspiring stories from Ali.

"The Methodist Healthcare Foundation is proud to partner with boxing legend and health and wellness advocate Laila Ali for this year's Methodist Healthcare Luncheon. Her work in raising awareness about cardiovascular health and heart disease prevention directly aligns with the priorities of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare and we're honored to have her at this year's Luncheon,” McQuown said.

“We share Laila's passion to inspire and encourage people to take an active role in their long-term health and look forward to welcoming her and our community at this important event,” she added.

Ali joins an incredible lineup of past speakers at this event including Helen Hunt, Dennis Quaid, Taye Diggs, Jim Gaffigan, Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush, Leslie Odom, Jr., Andie MacDowell, Octavia Spencer, Rob Lowe, Sally Field, Laura Linney, Michael Douglas, Diane Keaton and many more.
