Behind The Scenes - Olive Branch GeoMod System
Most of us are aware of the skill, commitment and compassion it takes to be a frontline caregiver in a healthcare system. Equally important is the critical work that supports those at the bedside. In this series, MLH is spotlighting the invaluable work performed by our Associates every day.
One of the newer facilities in the MLH system, Methodist Olive Branch opened its doors on August 21, 2013. From the beginning, the hospital was designed to meet energy efficiency and sustainability standards.
Olive Branch was the first hospital in the country to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Healthcare, or LEED, Gold certification. The hospital uses “green” energy, including the facility’s heating and cooling system, and specific expertise is required to manage the hospital’s green energy systems that create a comfortable environment for patients, visitors and staff.
In this video, operations and maintenance specialist Eric Poulos talks about the system and how it uses geothermal energy to heat and cool the hospital.
