Wilson Moore’s Gift of Stock Will Help Remove Barriers to Breast Health
Wilson Moore’s commitment to the healing mission of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare shows in so many ways.
In addition to his service as a member of the Methodist Healthcare Foundation Board of Directors as the current Chair, he also gives generously.
Most recently, Wilson conveyed this commitment through a meaningful contribution to the Foundation in support of a cause that caught his attention: Navigating Underserved Women to Breast Health, a program operated by the Methodist Healthcare Cancer Institute.
In addition to offering comprehensive, patient-focused cancer treatment to patients and families in Memphis and the Mid-South, Methodist’s Cancer Institute strives to address each patient’s unique and holistic needs, which includes operationalizing programs in the community to address social barriers patients may face.
After learning that Memphis ranked among the nation’s worst for breast cancer mortality disparity between Black and White women, Methodist launched the Navigating Women to Breast Health program to address social determinant barriers to breast health. The program partners with donors to provide navigation, community education, and free breast cancer screening services to underserved and uninsured women in the Mid-South.
When Wilson learned about this program and the need for funding, he felt personally called to support this incredible work.
His unique approach to support the program was to donate appreciated stock as his year-end donation.
A gift of appreciated stock is a meaningful way to provide significant support to Methodist Healthcare that can also enable donors to avoid associated capital gains taxes. Donations of stock made to the Methodist Healthcare Foundation are professionally managed and promptly converted to the cash value.
By opening his portfolio and donating appreciated stock, Wilson’s gift will enable 80 women in our community to access life-saving preventive breast health screenings.
