Types of Diabetes We Treat

Diabetes affects millions of people worldwide. There are several types of diabetes, each with distinct characteristics and requirements. Understanding the different types of diabetes is crucial for effective management and treatment.

Type 1 Diabetes

  • Type 1 diabetes is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks and destroys the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin, a hormone that regulates blood sugar levels. This condition requires lifelong management and treatment.

Type 2 Diabetes

  • Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes, a serious disease in which blood glucose (sugar) levels are above normal. It can lead to heart attack, stroke, blindness, kidney failure, or loss of toes, feet, or legs.

Prediabetes

  • Pre-diabetes is a condition in which your blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be classified as diabetes. It is a warning sign that you are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Gestational Diabetes

Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that is diagnosed or develops only during pregnancy. Eating a healthy diet and regular exercise can usually keep it managed. Fetal monitoring and checking daily blood sugar levels will help ensure a healthy pregnancy.

Early Treatment Can Help
