Clinical Expertise and Outcomes

Since 2014 the Methodist Blood and Marrow Transplant Center has been accredited by the internationally-recognized Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) and is recognized by the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) as a large volume Transplant Center as of June 2016. Both FACT accreditation and NMDP affiliation demonstrate excellence and expertise in cellular therapy and clinical care.

Survival outcomes of the program are the best in the Mid- South just 15 months after performing its first allogeneic transplant.  With a one-year overall survival rate of 77.1 %, the Blood and Marrow Transplant Center is ranked among the top 20 centers in the nation as recently published by the NMDP

We perform all types of transplants:

  • Autologous: A transplant using your own cells from your bloodstream or bone marrow
  • Related allogeneic: Transplanting cells from one of your family members
  • Mismatched related allogeneic (Haplo-Transplant): Transplanting cells from a family member that matches half of your DNA
  • Unrelated allogeneic: A transplant using cells from an unrelated matched donor
  • Reduced intensity (Mini-Transplant)
  • Umbilical cord blood transplant: Transplanting cells from placental cord blood

Other services provided:

  • A cellular therapy laboratory certified by FACT, CLIA, AABB and CAP
  • Outpatient transplant chemotherapy and infusions
  • CAR-T cell program
      • Only adult-certified center in Arkansas, Mississippi and greater Memphis area for treatment of patients with relapsed non-Hodgkin lymphoma and adolescents with acute lymphocytic leukemia. 



  • Only extracorporeal photopheresis center (ECP) in the greater Memphis area for treatment of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma/ graft-versus-host disease /lung transplant rejection.

The Blood and Marrow Transplant Center is located within Methodist University Hospital at 1265 Union Avenue on the third floor of the Crews Wing. Complimentary parking is available in the parking garage located on Eastmoreland Ave.
