The annual U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 28th year, recognize hospitals that excel in treating the most challenging patients.
“Being ranked as the best regional hospital in the Memphis metro area by U.S. News and World Report for the last seven years is an endorsement and recognition of the exceptional work that our team of medical experts are doing to improve overall health of our Memphis metro community,” said Michael Ugwueke, president and CEO for Methodist Healthcare. “I am extremely proud to be part of a dedicated team made up of both medical and non-medical professionals who work together to improve every life that we touch”
Methodist was also recognized as high performing in nephrology.
U.S. News publishes Best Hospitals to help guide patients who need a high level of care because they face a particularly difficult surgery, a challenging condition, or added risk because of other health problems or advanced age. Objective measures such as patient survival and safety data, nurse staffing levels and other data largely determined the rankings in most specialties.
The specialty rankings and data were produced for U.S. News by RTI International, a leading research organization based in Research Triangle Park, N.C. Using the same data, U.S. News produced the state and metro rankings.

Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, a part of the Methodist family, was also recently honored by U.S. News & World Report as one of its 2017-2018 Best Children’s Hospitals in the nation. The hospital made the list for the seventh consecutive year.
