Bioness H200 - New Therapy for Paralyzed Muscles Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital is the only hospital in the Memphis area to offer a new therapy to help patients who have injured their central nervous system from a stroke, brain injury or spinal cord injury. A device called the Bioness H200 fits over the patient's arm and hand, giving therapists a way to custom fit electrodes which activate paralyzed muscles. Repetition of movement helps teach healthy parts of the brain to relearn lost function. The Bioness H200 is used in addition to traditional therapies. OR Renovations at Methodist University Hospital A $10-million dollar renovation brings state-of-the-art advancements to the OR at Methodist University Hospital. A sophisticated computer network allows the hospital to webcast surgeries worldwide, obtain consultations from other medical facilities and enhance educational opportunities. Two of the new operating rooms have voice-operated technology. The rooms are also 50 percent larger, making it possible to perform specialized surgical procedures such as minimally invasive neuro; ear, nose and throat, and spine surgeries as well as laparoscopic surgeries.
