Methodist Diagnostic Center – North, located on the Methodist North Hospital campus, features convenience, prompt service and state-of-the-art technology. Staffed by board-certified radiologists and certified technologists, the center offers an array of non-invasive imaging services for outpatients. Most Advanced CT Scanner in the Mid-South Methodist Healthcare leads the way with its commitment to excellence by being the first in the Mid-South to introduce the LightSpeed VCT 64-Slice Scanner, the most advanced CT or "Cat" scan technology in the world. This technology's incredible speed and high quality images provide significant advancements in diagnostics. This new imaging tool is important in diagnosing and pinpointing heart attack, stroke and other neurological problems. With amazing speed and clarity, scans allow doctors to see coronary artery blockages and the motion and pumping action of a patient's heart. The scanner offers a multitude of other uses including scans for cancer, trauma and other internal injuries. A First in Memphis The center features a GE Signa OpenSpeed MRI scanner, the first of its kind in Memphis. Its super-conductive magnet offers excellent diagnostic images, while its open design accommodates patients who are claustrophobic or are an above-average size. In addition, this system can scan a patient faster than most other commercially available open MRI systems. Keeping Women in Mind Our screening mammography facilities are specially designed with enhanced privacy and comfort in mind. A dedicated entrance and waiting area are just a few of the amenities offered. Helping women fight osteoporosis is possible with our dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scanner. Using small amounts of x-ray, it can help determine the risk of bone fracture. A history of fractures is one of several risk factors for osteoporosis. Staying Ahead of Heart Disease We now offer Cardioscan to help in the fight against heart disease. This high-speed CT scan can detect even small amounts of calcium build-up in the coronary arteries of the heart. Done early enough, this test could allow patients to slow, stop or reverse a serious heart condition. Other Highlights and Features We offer diagnostic radiology, which uses the latest in both digital and computed radiography equipment, resulting in clearer images and a lower radiation dose for the patient. We also offer state-of-the-art color-Doppler ultrasound equipment and nuclear medicine.
