At Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, we combine the features of home-like comfort with the highest levels of medical expertise. Our maternity centers feature attractive, comfortable birthing suites along with a knowledgeable and caring staff.

The nursing staff will be monitoring and checking the baby in your room so you won't be on your own as you learn to care for him or her. They will also have you complete a checklist to make sure they teach you about caring for the baby before you go home.

Safety and security for you and your baby are top priority at Methodist Healthcare. You will be educated about the security procedures and policies when you arrive in the Maternity Center. 

We've taken the following extra steps in our Maternity Centers:

• Controlled Access. We use coded locks and security systems in the nurseries, Labor and Delivery, and the maternity area to help us know who comes and goes.
• Staff Identification. Maternity center staff members wear uniforms that are easy to recognize. They also wear ID badges with a special symbol for easy identification.
• Foot and Fingerprints. A record of your fingerprint, along with your baby's footprints, will be made at birth.
• Baby ID. A special card will be made for you and your baby. You and your baby will also wear identification bracelets with matching numbers.

Our guidelines are set and enforced in accordance with those created for hospitals by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
