During Your Maternity Stay

Methodist offers a variety of programs to make your maternity stay with us as convenient and worry free as possible. Your baby's birthday is very special, and we want to make sure good care is taken of both you and your baby.

If you choose to and your doctor approves, support people may be allowed in the birthing room. Labor is hard work, and most women do not want to talk and visit. While hospital policy does not prohibit visitors during labor, you are encouraged to have only one or two support people there to help you.

We realize how important it is to have family and friends close by once the baby is born. Visitors are welcome anytime after checking in with the Maternity Center front desk. The baby's brothers and sisters may also visit. Be sure they are not sick and there is an adult available to care for them. We want your baby's birthday to be special and for the whole family to enjoy it.

Infant Security
Our guidelines are set and enforced in accordance with those created for hospitals by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Permission Forms
Upon arrival, you will need to give the maternity center permission to deliver the baby, either vaginally or by C-section, to administer the epidural, to circumcise your baby boy, to perform a tubal ligation and to release information to newborn photography company.
Newborn Photographs
A photographer will be available for pictures at the hospital for two to three hours each day, usually in the morning so that you can have a keepsake photo taken of your baby before you go home.
Birth Certificate
Before you leave the hospital, a maternity center staff member will help you complete the form for your baby's birth certificate.
Lactation Consultants
Nurses and lactation consultants are available to help you with breastfeeding during your hospital stay and once you've returned home.
