A robotic pyeloplasty repairs the malformation in the junction where the kidney joins the ureter using robotic-assisted surgery techniques. The ureter is a tube that drains urine from the kidney to the bladder. The malformation can cause pain and damages the kidneys. Our surgeons perform the procedure using the da Vinci robot and make several small incisions. The benefits of robotic surgery are:
- Reduced trauma to the body
- Less anaesthesia
- Less risk of infection
- Shorter hospital stay
- Faster recovery and return to normal activities
- Less scarring and improved cosmetics
