Susan and Randy's Story
Susan and Randy have been married for 10 years and have a 7-year old son and a 5-year old daughter. Recently they found themselves continually arguing about family obligations, financial matters and work schedules.

A co-worker suggested that Randy call the Methodist Healthcare Employee Assistance Program so that he and Susan could talk with a professional about their feelings of being overwhelmed. Their counselor provided a neutral environment for them to discuss marital issues and offered them more effective ways to communicate their concerns to each other. Today, Susan and Randy are enjoying more leisure time together both as a couple and as a family.

Ann's Story
Ann’s co-workers noticed that she appeared withdrawn and sad at work. It had been almost a year since her son was killed in an automobile accident.

Ann’s friend at work suggested that she call the Methodist Healthcare Employee Assistance Program for help. She was able to confide in her EAP therapist and was connected to a support group of parents who had similar losses and understood her problem. After counseling and with the help of the support group, she was able to process her feelings of loss and more adequately cope with her son’s death.

Mary’s Story
Two years ago Mary’s father died suddenly and Mary became the primary caregiver for her elderly mother. She became overwhelmed with the responsibility of work, caring for her mother and attending to her own family's needs.

Mary decided to talk with someone at Methodist Healthcare Employee Assistance Program. Her therapist talked to Mary about the value of self-care and gave her resources and ideas for setting priorities in balancing care for herself and others. Mary now feels more relaxed since she has discovered and started using self-care techniques.
