Scientific research plays a crucial role in advancing clinical care, and at the Methodist University Hospital Neuroscience Institute, the Center for Brain Tumor Research (CBTR)is making great strides in addressing the biologic and therapeutic issues relevant to brain cancer.

The CBTR is a basic science research group that has partnered with the Methodist Neuroscience Institute, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) and the Semmes-Murphey Neurologic & Spine Institute to develop cutting-edge research and technologies for the treatment of cancers of the brain and spinal cord.

Established in 2004, the CBTR develops molecular research for brain cancers, creates translational research to convert basic science into clinical tools and therapies and combines new technologies and therapies with excellence in neurosurgery to provide patients with a new hope for the future.
