Sometimes babies arrive too early or may need extra attention before going home. When a baby needs that special care, we are ready at any time in our Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU).
Board-certified neonatologists are specially trained in the care of newborns, available 24 hours a day. They are supported by our trained professionals, including nurses, dietitians, respiratory therapists and pharmacists.
Our intensive care unit at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital is certified as a Level III unit, as high as any other hospital NICU in Memphis. Methodist South Hospital is presently a Level II unit, but should your baby need a Level III unit, he or she will be transferred to Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital.
Our NICUs are equipped and staffed to stabilize and treat newborns needing immediate care. You will be kept informed on your baby's condition throughout his or her stay in the NICU and will involved in decisions that need to be made about your baby's care.
