Lymphedema is a common and serious condition that causes abnormal swelling in the arms and legs. Treatment consists of manual lymph drainage, skin care, compression and exercises. We know how scary and painful this condition can be, which is why we treat the whole person – focusing on body, mind and spirit – to help our patients thrive each day.  

What to Expect at Therapy

Treatment duration can be 3 weeks to three months, depending on the severity of the swelling and patient compliance. Treatment typically lasts about one hour and must be performed by a certified lymphedema therapist or a licensed person trained by a specialist to ensure the safety of our patients.

Referral Information

Patients need a prescription from a physician for lymphedema treatment. Physicians can contact 901.516.5050 for Methodist North or 901.516.6929 for Methodist Germantown to refer a patient.

Locations & Hours

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare has two certified lymphedema therapists. Appointments can be made Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Therapy is performed at Methodist North Hospital and Methodist Germantown Hospital.
