Creating a brain cancer research program is an enormous task and must be built one lab at a time. Each lab costs an average of $300,000 to establish and $200,000 per year to maintain. Good science eventually leads to grant support and thus initial investments to establish research laboratories ultimately result in a financial gain for research that far exceeds the initial investment.
However, at no time in our developmental history has the CBTR been more in need of funding to build and sustain our research program. Therefore, it is critical to continuously work to gain the support of private and institutional funding from the mid-south community.
