Grief Classes

For families who have lost a loved one, the struggle with grief can be overwhelming. To help with that struggle, Methodist Hospice provides grief support classes. Open to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one, these classes are often a great source of comfort for those left behind.

Monthly Classes

Our monthly grief classes discuss a broad range of issues related to grief and mourning. There is a general focus for each meeting, but individuals are welcome to share any specific issue they are experiencing. Classes are held the second Monday of each month from 1pm-2:30pm at Saint Lukes United Methodist Church located at 480 South Highland Street. No advanced registration is required.

Six Week Series

We also offer a grief class series that lasts six weeks. These classes focus on specific topics each week including Introduction to Grief, Emotions and Feelings, Challenges of Grief, Relationships and Grief, Spiritual Elements of Healing, and Moving Forward. There are two sessions held each year. The next six week session starts January 20, 2010. Meetings are held from 6:30pm-7:30pm at Hope Presbyterian Church located at 8500 Walnut Grove Road. Though advanced registration is not required, it is encouraged and can be done by calling 901.516.1604.

Grief support for children is available through our annual summer grief camp program, Camp BraveHearts.

If you have questions or would like more information on grief support offered through Methodist Hospice, contact Mary Elizabeth Jones at 901.516.1604.
