With hospitals in all four corners of Memphis, we are uniquely positioned to offer city-wide cancer services. Methodist University Hospital acts as the administrative core while Methodist South, North, and Germantown Hospitals provide inpatient surgical and medical oncology to the surrounding communities.
The 53-bed inpatient cancer unit at Methodist University Hospital is located on the second and fourth floors of the Crews Wing in Methodist University Hospital, along with a 10-bed surgical oncology unit. The Admissions office is located on the first floor of the Crews Wing.
The new Oncology Special Care Unit on the fourth floor allows the UT Blood & Marrow Transplant Center, which is affiliated with Methodist, to treat approximately 60 more leukemia, high-risk lymphoma, acute hematology, or bone marrow transplant patients each year. The new unit offers:
-
A special air filtering system designed to minimize risk of infection
-
Telemetry (or patient monitoring) equivalent to ICU standards
-
Specially trained nurses
-
A family room with TV and internet access
All professionals at The Cancer Center have been trained to work specifically with cancer patients. Other specialized services at Methodist University Hospital include a Cancer Information Center, a dedicated oncology pharmacy, six overnight guest rooms, the Appleby Memorial Chapel, washer and dryer, and VHS/DVD players in every room.
