Thousands of cancer patients have been successfully treated with radiation therapy. The goal of this treatment is to kill cancer cells or to prevent them from growing and dividing, causing larger tumors. While radiation can also affect normal cells, normal cells can recover.
The Department of Radiation Oncology at Methodist works with your treatment team to determine the best possible course of treatment for your type of cancer. Our specialized treatment team includes radiation oncologists or physicians, radiation physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists and radiation nurses. Together, they work with you during the entire course of treatment.
