Anesthesiology
Whether you are having major surgery, same-day surgery or delivering a child, anesthesiologists at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare help manage the care process before, during and after your procedure. At each of our locations, board-certified anesthesiologists work with your care team to make you as comfortable as possible.
Before a procedure, anesthesiologists evaluate a patient to ensure he is fit for surgery. During the procedure, anesthesiologists provide continual medical assessment of the patient and monitor and control the patient’s heart rate, rhythm and breathing. Afterwards, they make sure that the patient is as pain-free and comfortable as possible to ensure a timely recovery.
Critical Care
Patients in need of critical care are brought to the Intensive Care Unit. The Intensive Care Units at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare are different from regular units in that more equipment and more staff constantly monitor the patient. The critical care patient team is made up of physicians, specially-trained nurses, respiratory therapists, nutritionists and pastoral care staff.
The Intensive Care Units at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare are equipped to handle serious and life-threatening emergencies. Depending on the level of severity, patients may be transferred to the ICU from other hospitals or emergency departments. Part of the critical care team in the Hospital Wing, which uses helicopters to transfer patients within a 150-mile radius.
General Surgery
Depending on the level of need, surgery can be performed at any of our hospital locations, or at one of our outpatient surgery centers. General surgeons operate on the abdominal area, as well as perform surgery for trauma patients. Your physician will provide instructions on how to prepare for surgery, as well as work with anesthesiologists to help manage pain during and after surgery.
Pulmonology Medicine
Pulmonologists work with people who lung-related problems to help provide solutions to breathing disorders. Methodist Healthcare is home to a state-of-the-art sleep disorders center, which is staffed by board-certified pulmonologists.
Radiology
Radiologists use medical imaging to help diagnose and treat diseases through tests such as X-rays, ultrasounds, MRIs and CT scans.

Vascular Surgery
Vascular surgeons work with the vascular system, which is made up of veins and arteries. As people age, arteries tend to thicken and become more narrow, which can put people at risk for aneurisms and strokes. Your physician can help you determine which screenings might be right for you. Our vascular surgeons work with a multi-disciplinary team that includes anesthesiologists, nurses, nutritionists and rehabilitation services.
