Interfaith Health Program and Global Ministries

The mission of the Interfaith Health Program (IHP) is to build the capacity for collaboration between faith groups and health structures contributing to the health and wholeness of communities.  The Interfaith Health Program seeks to align the Faith & Health movement through integrated action strategies among public health entities, hospital systems, seminaries and denominational & interfaith religious structures.

The Interfaith Health Program projects and initiatives currently include:

African Religious Health Assets Program (ARHAP): A joint research program with the University of Capetown, the University of KwaZulu Natal, University of the Witwatersrand and Emory University that seeks to identify and quantify the extent and contributions that religion is making in health within the African context through academic research and surveys done in particular in Zambia and Lesotho.

The Institute for Public Health & Faith Collaborations (IPHFC): An intensive 4-day learning experience designed to train teams of faith and health leaders to work jointly together, understand leadership styles, and foster mutual discourse and tasks to address health disparities in communities.

International Outreach Ministries: Through collaboration with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church and other international agencies, IHP works to develop partnerships with hospitals, universities, and health programs to build leadership and healthy communities.

Our vision is the alignment of our best public health science and most mature faith.
