One-On-One Re-Entry Program

We're making it easy for nurses to return to work with our One-On-One Re-Entry Program. One-On-One effectively prepares registered nurses who have been inactive for five or more years for returning to practice in a hospital setting.

Before a nurse begins the program, the nursing coordinator requests a letter of eligibility and a temporary permit from the State of Tennessee Board of Nursing. During the program, nurses work in non-critical areas.

Offered throughout the year, the program includes classroom lectures, supervised clinical experience and self-paced learning modules. Nurses participate in the program for at least eight weeks on a full-time basis for eight hours a day, five days a week.

Nurses must demonstrate knowledge and skill in competencies specific to their work unit before they complete the program and move on to independent practice. Upon completion of the program, the nursing coordinator notifies the board and the nursing license is re-activated.

Eligibility:

  • Registered nurses with at least two years of clinical nursing practice
  • Inactivity for a minimum of five years
  • Three letters of recommendation (at least one from a former employer)
  • Personal survey and interview
  • Must agree to work in a Methodist hospital for at least 18 months in a part-time or 12 months in a full-time position (no transfers are allowed during that time)
