Methodist University Hospital will offer an educational opportunity on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 for those in the pre-hospital community to learn the latest techniques and treatments in cardiac care from nationally renowned physicians and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) leaders.
The conference is available to paramedics, EMT’s, fire department personnel, hospital staff, nurses and cardiac physicians throughout the community. The program will provide instruction on how to improve the care a cardiac patient receives prior to arriving at the hospital, and will focus on ways to enhance effectiveness and improve quality of care for patients with acute coronary syndromes. Methodist hopes to improve the chances of recovery for cardiac patients throughout the community by better educating the medical professionals that first come in contact with them.
Speakers at the conference include nationally recognized physicians and EMT leaders, including keynote speaker, Dr. Sunil V. Rao. Dr. Rao is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Duke University Medical Center, the Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories at Durham Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina and an Associate Editor for the American Heart Journal. Dr. Rao’s research focuses on bleeding and transfusion issues in patients with ischemic heart disease, quality assessment and improvement through registries, and interventional cardiology.
The conference will be held at the University of Memphis FedEx Institute of Technology and begins at 7:30 am. Free parking will be available in the University of Memphis Fogelman Parking Garage, located on Innovation Drive. CEU’s will be awarded for attendance.
If you are interesting in attending the conference, please call (888) 777-5959 to register by Monday, January 12. While there is no registration fee, pre-registration is required.
