Methodist South is nearing the end of a yearlong, $3.6 million renovation and expansion project. Scheduled for completion this October, the project includes the addition of two triage areas in the emergency department, a completely renovated cafeteria and numerous aesthetic upgrades. The expansion and renovation projects at Methodist South demonstrate the hospital’s continued commitment to patient care and customer service. Hospital officials believe the new amenities will improve patient care and give patients and their families a more comfortable environment during their stay. The addition of the two triage rooms in the emergency department will better serve urgent care patients by allowing Methodist medical staff to more quickly assess patients’ needs and provide treatment. The registration area in the emergency department is also being reconfigured to expedite the registration process for incoming patients. “The projects under way in the emergency department will help reduce wait times by speeding patient flow,” said Dr. Michael Ugwueke, administrator and CEO of Methodist South Hospital “This alone will allow us to improve patient care for the community we serve.” Various cosmetic improvements will help Methodist South patients feel more comfortable during their stay. The hospital’s common areas and many patient rooms have been given new wood flooring, furniture, art work and flat screen televisions. The cafeteria has been completely restyled to offer a warmer, more relaxing environment for patients, their families and Methodist associates. Methodist South’s dining area features new tables, chairs, banquette seating, hardwood floors and a flat-screen television for diners’ entertainment. “The renovations we’ve made play an important part in our commitment to continue to offer this community exceptional healthcare,” said Dr. Ugwueke. “Our patients’ experience begins as soon as they enter the doors of our hospital. They will know instantly that they have an inviting and comfortable place in which to heal.”
