Ruth Tutor, PhD, RN, Critical Care/Transplant Advance Practice Nurse at Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute, has received the 2007 Transplant Nursing Excellence Award from the International Transplant Nurses Society. The award is offered yearly to a nurse involved in the care of transplant patients who reflects ITNS’ mission and value of education, research and clinical excellence. Tutor has worked with transplant patients since 1985 and joined the nursing staff at the Transplant Institute at Methodist University Hospital in 2004. In addition to her experience working with transplant patients, she also has experience in oncology and neuro and trauma critical care. Founded in 1992, the International Transplant Nurses Society (ITNS) is a worldwide professional nursing organization that represents all areas of transplantation. ITNS promotes the education and clinical practice excellence of nurses who are interested in and participate in the care of solid organ transplant patients.
