WomenHeart Regional Cardiac Conference

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare is proud to be the sole hospital sponsor for the 2010 WomenHeart Annual Conference. WomenHeart's First Annual Regional Cardiac Conference is designed to update and provide new information to physicians and other health care providers on assessing and managing women with cardiovascular disease. The conference will be an interactive educational forum in which internationally-recognized physicians will provide valuable information and insight into the unique challenges of diagnosing and treating women with cardiovascular disease. Cases will be woven into each session and special attention will be paid to "Getting with the American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines."

Audience

The conference is designed for nurse practitioners, obstetricians-gynecologists, primary care physicians, cardiologists and other health care professionals who diagnose, treat and prevent cardiovascular disease in women.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this conference attendees should be able to:

  • Identify at least three differences between women and men in cardiovascular disease presentation, prevalence and risk factors with consideration given to women’s diverse symptoms.
  • Interpret gender-specific issues relative to the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease using IVUS, stress testing, coronary angiography and outcomes.
  • Determine which new cardiovascular risk stratification tests are important for women. 
  • Describe how you would implement at least two gender-specific treatments for cardiovascular disease, which would include prevention, risk factor management, and symptom management strategies.
  •  Describe how you would implement at least four AHA - Guidelines into your clinical care practices.
  • Identify at least three statistics that exemplify the quality of care female heart patients are receiving nationally and in the Mid-South.
  • Identify at least two situations where you would evaluate, refer and/or treat mental health symptoms in women with cardiovascular disease. 
  • Compare and contrast at least three risks and benefits of hormone therapy for patients who are at risk for or who have cardiovascular disease.
  • Describe three ways to implement an evidence-based approach to treatment and management of the female patient with Acute Coronary Syndromes.

Registration

The registration fee is $125.00 for physicians; $75.00 for Nurse Practitioners, EMTs, Physician Assistants, Residents, Fellows, Nurses and all other healthcare professionals.

Registration fee includes course material, continental breakfast, lunch and breaks.
