Camp BraveHearts, a family grief camp for children 6 to 16 and their parents or caregiver who have lost a close family member or friend within the past two years, is hosted by Methodist Hospice.
"Camp BraveHearts is a place where children and their families can come to understand the process of grief and to know that it's not something that you just get over," explains Dee Flood, development coordinator, Methodist Hospice. "Grief is a journey that you have to go through."
Trained professionals and volunteers use games, music and art to help children and adults explore their emotions, thoughts and questions involving grief. These professionals walk beside the children and adults who attend Camp BraveHearts as they take their first steps in the healing process.
