Karen Hopper, M.D., is the chief medical officer of Methodist North Hospital. Prior to her appointment in 2005, Dr. Hopper was the medical director of Outcomes Management and also served as the medical director of Utilization Management for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. She practiced internal medicine with Health First Medical Group for 16 years before transitioning into leadership administrative positions.
Dr. Hopper received her medical degree from Louisiana University School of Medicine in Shreveport, Louisiana and completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. In 2006, Dr. Hopper was awarded the black-belt of six-sigma, which is a process that eliminates errors through data-driven analysis.
She is board-certified in internal medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Memphis Physicians Quality Initiatives. In addition to her hospital duties, she also volunteers at the Memphis Church Health Center.
