University of Tennessee resident rotations are headquartered at Methodist University Hospital. University Hospital is located in Downtown Memphis and is the flagship facility for Methodist Healthcare, as well as the main tertiary center for the system.
With 650 + beds, it is the base of operations for the system's three Centers of Excellence providing research, training and treatment in cardiology, oncology, women's services and neurosciences. University Hospital serves an extensive four-state area, providing a broad socioeconomic patient base offering a variety of challenging clinical opportunities for physicians-in-training.
Also affiliated with University Hospital is an on-site skilled nursing facility, an extended-care hospital, and a rehabilitation hospital. Pharmacy Residency Programs, in addition to on-site schools of nursing, respiratory therapy and radiographic technology, augment ancillary services.
While all training may be completed at University Hospital, more opportunities for specialized experiences are available at affiliated hospitals, including Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center and the Regional Medical Center, which has one of the nation's busiest trauma centers. The central location of University Hospital provides easy access from residential areas throughout Memphis, Eastern Arkansas and Northern Mississippi.
