Transitional Residency

Methodist Healthcare has provided outstanding graduate medical training to new physicians for more than 60 years. Contributing to our position as one of the top teaching hospitals in the country is our fundamental commitment to educating residents to evidence-based medicine in a real-world environment. As a result of that commitment, we have a program renowned for patient care, resident satisfaction and academic performance.

Current Resident 
  The Residency Supervision Area is designed to assist hospitals and clinics with the protocols outlined for specific duties residents and fellows can perform.
Facilities 
  The University of Tennessee resident facility is the flagship for Methodist Healthcare as well as the main tertiary center for the system and is the base of operations for the systems four Centers of Emphasis.

Internal Medicine Program 
  This program is now being offered at the University of Tennessee.
Program Overview 
  Sponsored by the University of Tennessee Departments of Internal Medicine and Surgery, the transitional year program also works closely with the Department of Radiology.
Purpose 
  The Transitional residency program at Methodist is designed to provide physicians-in-training with an ideal mix of hands-on clinical experience and time for academic study.
Resident Life 
  Methodist University Hospital first year residents average overnight call duty five to six times each month.
Salary & Benefits 
  Resident salaries vary by year of residency.
Transitional Application 
  For consideration in the University of Tennessee Transitional Program at Methodist University Hospital residency program an application must be submitted through Electronic Residency Application System.
Transitional Curriculum 
  The transitional curriculum provides the resident five months of Core clinical clerkships: five months of General Medicine, ICU and/or Surgery rotations, and one month Ambulatory Medicine
