Since 1999, Southwind Medical Specialists has served as a diverse multi-specialty group, meeting the needs of patients throughout the Memphis and Mid-South areas.
One of the largest primary care physician groups in the Mid-South, Southwind Medical Specialists employs seven physicians and 60 employees. Southwind's two locations are thoroughly equipped to provide various forms of outpatient testing, including thallium treadmill, bone density, holter monitoring, echocardiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, colonoscopy, in-house lab, and x-ray.
Drs. Laurie Baker, Debbie O’Cain, Hays Brantley, Lawrence Whitlock, Lamar Bailey and Sonali Parikh provide primary care, and Dr. Ron Michael provides gastroenterology services.

Dr. Lawrence Whitlock has been practicing Internal Medicine since 1976 and attended the University of Tennessee. Dr. Whitlock is a member of the American Society of Internal Medicine and a Board Member of the National Assocation of Long Term Care Hospital Coding. He has served on the boards of several committees within Methodist Healthcare over the years, and lectures extensively on diabetes and lipid disorders. He is one of the founders of the practice.
Dr. Ron Michael is gastroenterologist who is also trained in internal medicine. Dr. Michael attended medical school in India and performed his residency at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland, OH, and his fellowship at the Clinical Research Center in New Orleans, LA. Dr. Michael is also a founder of the practice, and performs endoscopic procedures in-house at our surgery center on the premises of our Champion Hills office.
Dr. Laurie Baker is board-certified in family practice and can see the entire family. Dr. Baker attended the University of Tennessee in Memphis, and has been practicing family medicine since 1990. She is a member of the Shelby County Medical Society, Memphis Medical Society, and the American Academy of Family Practitioners. She is available for appointments at our Champion Hills office.
Dr. Hays Brantley is board-certified in internal medicine and practices at our Sanderlin office. Dr. Brantley attended The University of Tennessee in Memphis and began practicing medicine in 1984. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Society of Internal Medicine, and American College of Physicians. Dr. Brantley is on the active staff at Methodist Hospital and has served on numerous committees within the Methodist Healthcare system.
Dr. Debbie O'Cain joinied Southwind in January of 2007. She is board-certified in family practice, and has been practicing in the Memphis area since 1991. In addition to family practice, she also evaluates and treats workmans compensation and occupational health patients. She currently does volunteer work at The Church Health Center and is also a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Practice, and American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. Dr. O'Cain is available by appointment at our Champion Hills office.
Dr. Lamar Bailey joined the practice in June of 2007. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and his medical degree from the University of South Alabama, Dr. Bailey completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Tennessee in 1990. Dr. Bailey has practiced in the Memphis area since 1990, working with UT Medical Group, the University of Tennessee - Memphis, and the VA Medical Center. From 1990 until 2003, he served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine, teaching clinical medicine to students and residents. While at UT, Dr. Bailey also worked as an emergency department attending physician at the Regional Medical Center and was involved in hospital administration, including serving a term as the hospital's Medical Staff President. He is a member of the Shelby County Medical Society and the American College of Physicians. He is available by appointment at our Sanderlin office.
Dr. Sonali Parikh is board certified in internal medicine. She received her medical degree from the Government Medical College and Hospital in Nagpur, India, and completed her residence in internal medicine at the University of Tennessee, Memphis.
Bridget Brady, A.N.P. has been practicing with Southwind since 2000. She received her RN certification through Methodist School of Nursing and went on to The University of Tennessee to receive her Masters. Mrs. Brady is available to see patients over the age of thirteen by appointment at our Champion Hills office. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American Nurses Association. Mrs. Brady was employed by Peabody Medical Group prior to joining Southwind in 2000.
Tina Dickinson, F.N.P. received her initial training as a nurse in the US Army. She completed her Bachelors and Masters of Science in Nursing at Arkansas State University, and is board certified with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She currently remains in the US Army Reserves, and also does volunteer work with the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Alzheimer's Association, The Med Foundation, The Grizz House, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Mrs. Dickinson also holds memberships with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She is licensed in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi. She has been practicing with Dr. Laurie Baker at Southwind since 2004. Mrs. Dickinson is available by appointment at our Champion Hills office.
