Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center is designed as a place for kids - from kid-sized beds to grape-flavored anesthesia. We understand that surgery can be a scary experience for both parent and child, and our expert staff is specially trained to treat children. At Le Bonheur, your child will be in the hands of pediatricians who are experts in their fields. General pediatric surgeons evaluate and treat a wide variety of surgical problems including hernias, appendicitis, defects of the gastrointestinal tract and trauma. We also have pediatric surgeons who specialize in neurosurgery, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, plastic and reconstructive surgery and urology.

Anesthesiology
Specially trained in pediatrics, our anesthesiologists are experienced in putting the child and the family at ease.

Bunny Room
Before surgery, there's one thing every child must do - hop to the Bunny Room to pick out a special toy. When a child awakens after surgery, the toy is nearby and ready for play time.

Cardiothoracic Surgery
Our Cardiothoracic surgeons have the expertise to take care of most cardiac anomalies in patients from newborns to adults.

General Surgery
Our pediatric general surgeons provide treatment for infants and children with a wide variety of surgical problems, including many birth defects, accidental injury and burns, appendicitis, hernias, and many other problems.

Le Bonheur East Surgery Center
At the surgery center, our commitment to excellent care extends to our freestanding surgery center specializing exclusively in pediatrics. The center offers same-day surgery allowing children to return to their own home within hours.

Orthopedics
We work closely with the physicians of Campbell Clinic to provide comprehensive services to the children of our region.

Pre-op Screening (formerly EASE)
Our staff ensures paperwork and examinations are complete prior to your child's surgery so that you can concentrate on what matters most – your child.

Pre-operative Teaching Programs
Each week, a special program provides children scheduled for surgery and their parents the opportunity to learn more about what it’s like to have surgery. The program features Bernard, a puppet designed to help children understand their hospital visit.

Recovery Room
In our Peri-operative Unit or Recovery Room, each child wakes up with a nurse by his or her side. Wait time varies from 20 minutes to a few hours, depending on the procedure and amount of time under anesthesia.

Starlight Room
Some procedures do not require complete sedation (being put to “sleep”). When only moderate sedation is required, we have relaxation techniques to reduce pain and provide comfort.

Transplant Surgery
We perform liver, kidney and multi-organ transplants in association with surgeons at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and the Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute.

Urology
Our Urology Department provides the only comprehensive pediatric urologic care in the Mid-South. Full urologic surgical and medical treatment is available.
