Camp BraveHearts is a family grief camp hosted by Methodist Hospice. This camp is a safe place where feelings of grief can be expressed without having to worry about the reaction of others. Trained professionals and volunteers help children and their families explore issues related to grief, walking beside them as they take the steps needed to heal. By sharing their grief with others, children and adults begin to let go.
Camp Bravehearts is a three-day camp in June with participants arriving in the morning and leaving in the afternoon. Lunch and a snack are provided each day. The camp is funded by contributions from the community, with a registration fee of $15. Scholarships are available.
All children ages 6-16 who have experienced the death of a close family member or friend within the past two years are eligible for Camp Bravehearts. Special sessions are planned for parents and caregivers that are concurrent to the children’s sessions.
