Your child may be referred to the Center for Pediatric Neuropsychology from your pediatrician or neurologist. We specialize in measuring the way your child's brain functions through a series of standardized tests. Working with a pediatric neuropsychologist, this testing is used to detect diseases or the impact of damage to how your child's brain functions.
Also, your child may also be referred to our center to monitor your child's recovery or development of a central nervous system disorder. We work closely with your child's doctor to manage their condition. Your doctor might also provide other treatments such as rehabilitation for reasoning, memory or processing disorders, or behavior management.
Pediatric neuropsychology uses knowledge of the developing brain and its relationship to thought and behavior in the evaluation and treatment of children with known or suspected neurological disorders.
Our Center for Pediatric Neuropsychology is directed by board-certified Vickie R. Brewer, Ph.D., ABPP-CN, and provides comprehensive testing of patients with neurological impairment. We provide both in-patient and outpatient services to meet the needs of your child and their condition. We test for a wide range of disorders including spina bifida, brain tumors, epilepsy, genetic disorders, attention deficit disorder, autism and learning disorders.
These evaluations diagnose and identify academic, behavioral and thought problems caused by a child's neurological disorder and aid in the treatment of that disorder. Your child's medical condition is monitored and possible "delayed" effects of a neurological disorder are identified.
