The University of Tennessee created the residency program with Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center in 1976 making this one of the oldest pediatric residency programs in the country. Since that time over 80 individuals completed their post-doctoral training in this program. UT's College of Pharmacy has a national reputation as an excellent pharmacy school. The College also boasts the largest number of faculty members who have attained Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties certification of any College of Pharmacy nationwide. The Pediatric Pharmacy Faculty includes: -
4 full-time tenured faculty members -
1 part-time faculty member -
1 full-time clinical scientist -
2 joint positions (50% university based, 50% hospital based) -
6 affiliated part-time faculty The College of Pharmacy sponsors a Residency Symposium in the fall that provides information for residents regarding project selection, implementation, and completion. Additionally, teaching and precepting techniques for new practitioners are components of the seminar. Pharmacy Grand Rounds occur monthly as a joint venture between the Knoxville and Memphis campuses. Videoconferencing allows participation from both sites.
